Standard NEMA Germana Electric Motors
  1. Steel fan cover for optimum strength.
  2. Small size, high strength non-sparking fan reduces noise and enhances efficiency. Fan is keyed to shaft.
  3. Heavy-duty cast iron frame, end plates and conduit box.
  4. Chromium-plated copper nameplate with standard information on motor efficiency wiring diagram, bearing size etc.
  5. More quality copper magnet wire, high grade electromagnetic steel stator, lower resistance and I2R losses, high efficiency design for 1.15 service factor, Class F insulation.
  6. Cast aluminum rotor dynamically balanced, for reduced vibration and noise, the surface is painted semigloss polyester finish.
  7. Ball bearings meet all standards. 143T-256T frame motors use double shielded ball bearings while 284T frame and larger motors have bearing caps to protect against entry of grease into the motor.
  8. Lubrication fittings on each and of motor (248T frame and larger), Lithium base grease is used with range of -30?C ~ + 110?C ambient temperature.
  9. One-way, corrosion resistant condensate drains to release condensation and moisture from the housing.
  10. Oversized cast iron conduit box, double gaskets, can be rotated
in 90? increments. NPT threaded entrance. Leads are extra long
and permanently marked. 404T-405T frame motors have 12 leads,
    suitable for wye-delta starting.

Mechanical Characteristics

  • Stator Frames & Brackets
All frames and brackets are of 100% high quality cast iron and have axial cooling fins for an increased heat dissipating surface. The bases are integrally cast as one piece into the rotor frame to provide greater rigidity and strength.
  • Drains
One-way corrosion resistant drain holes are located at the lowest point to provide an exit for excess condensation and moisture.
  • Leads
The highest quality flexible insulation material is used on our leads and they are permanently numbered.
  • Mounting
All of Germana Motors are equipped with standard horizontal F1 mounting assembly.
  • Rotors
The Germana Motors have a squirrel cage type and they are all dynamically balanced to provide longer bearing life. The squirrel cage rotors are high pressure, die-cast aluminum and held to very close tolerance to provide extremely smooth, and vibration free operation. The 143T-365T frame motors are direct on-line starting, 404T and above are Y starting.
  • Cooling Fans
High strength, non-sparking, polyethylene external fans assure low temperature rise and very low noise. All fans are static balanced and tested prior to installation to insure lower noise and vibration levels.
  • Terminal Boxes
Cast iron terminal boxes are standard on all models. The terminal boxes are oversized and rotatable in 90? increments. The cast iron boxes are double gasketed to provide protection from dust and moisture. A grounding terminal is provided inside the boxes.
  • Finish
The motors are finished with a high adhesion, anti-rust, semi gloss, polyester finish. All fasteners are galvanised for corrosion control.
  • Stator Windings & Insulation
The windings are of the highest quality insulated 100% copper magnet wire. Nonhygroscopic, Class F heat resistant insulation is used and the insulation has been evaluated at NEMA class B temperature rise.
  • Nameplates
All nameplates are anti-corrosion proof and have connection diagrams as well as required nominal efficiencies printed on them.

Bearing Systems and Lubrication

Frame Sizes 143T-256T have oversized double shielded permanently lubricated ball bearings (No re-lubrication necessary).
Frame Sizes 284T-449T have oversized open type ball bearings with grease fittings for re-lubrication.
Please note the Germana Motors use Lithium based grease as standard.

Lubrication Schedule

  • Standard Service: Motors run not more than 8 hours a day in an environment with low ambient temperature and low vibration.
  • Severe Service: Motors run 24 hours per day and / or in a dusty, dirty environment with low ambient temperature and excessive vibration.
  • Vertical Service: Motors mounted vertically require re-lubrication 3 times more frequently than horizontally mounted machines above).
  • Recommended Greases
    Mobil-Movilux #2
    Exxon-Beacon 325
    Standard Oil-Chevron SRI #2
    Dow Corning -8R2-Plus
    shell- alvania

DO NOT OVER GREASE
Excessive Lubrication cause premature motor failure
